One month in the role: Special Consul for Sustainable Development Australia

One month of service, responsibility and action — for Australia, future generations and faithful stewardship.

One month ago, I stepped into my role as Special Consul for Sustainable Development Australia with the World Humanity Commission.

I knew I wanted this role to be about more than a title.

It needed to be about service, responsibility and action.

Here’s a snapshot of what we have been working on.

Sustainable development and national risks

I have spent the first month reviewing sustainable development risks and emerging issues affecting Australia, with a focus on identifying areas of concern and preparing recommendations and correspondence to be raised with the Australian Government and Prime Minister.

This work is about looking beyond the headlines and asking:

What are the issues Australia needs to be thinking about now to protect the opportunities of future generations?

Digital duty of care

Through The Illuminator Movement, we also prepared and submitted our own response regarding Australia’s proposed Digital Duty of Care framework.

Our submission raised concerns around the potential implications for free expression, Australian entrepreneurs, creators and digital businesses, while recognising the broader policy objective of improving online safety.

The Australian Government has committed to introducing a Digital Duty of Care, following recommendations from the statutory review of the Online Safety Act.

We believe Australians should be able to participate in the digital economy while having their rights and freedoms thoughtfully considered.

Contend

We launched CONTEND — a new resource hub for Australian entrepreneurs who want to become more informed, raise their voices and take practical action on issues affecting the future of our nation: https://www.theilluminatormovement.com/contend

The goal is simple:

Don’t just complain about the direction of our country. Get informed. Get involved. Contend for what matters.

The Evangelism Hub

We also launched our new Evangelism Hub through The Illuminator Movement: https://www.theilluminatormovement.com/the-hope-of-jesus

I’ve shared my own testimony of encountering Jesus and the transformation that followed.

And we are now preparing a new YouTube series featuring other people’s stories of what Jesus has done in their lives, businesses and families.

Because faith isn’t just something I believe.

It’s something I’ve experienced.

The new Illuminator ecosystem

Behind the scenes, we have also launched an entirely new Illuminator ecosystem — rebuilding our platforms, resources, community and initiatives around our next chapter.

The vision is becoming increasingly clear:

Identity → Leadership → Business → Wealth → Impact → Legacy.

And ultimately, helping people faithfully steward what has been entrusted to them.

And behind all of it… rest

Perhaps the most important part of this first month has happened away from the public eye.

After spending time in the cardiac care unit last month, this season has required me to slow down.

  • To heal.
  • To rest.
  • To spend time with God.
  • To listen.
  • To recover.
  • And to allow my body and mind the space they needed.

I’ve had to learn again that rest is not the opposite of purpose.

Sometimes rest is part of preparation for it.

So while there has been a lot happening publicly, there has also been a quieter work happening privately.

And I am deeply grateful for both.

Our commitment remains the same

We will continue taking practical steps to honour our commitment not only to the global entrepreneurs within our community, but to the Australian entrepreneurs, families and communities we are called to serve here at home.

This is only month one.

There is much more to come.

For Australia. For future generations. For faithful stewardship. For such a time as this.

Faith-led

We build with God at the centre.

The Illuminator Movement is a faith-led movement. We believe every good thing — wealth, influence, talent, time — is entrusted, never self-made, and given to be stewarded well. Profit is a tool. Legacy is the assignment. You do not have to share our faith to belong here, but you should know what we are building on.

Much has been entrusted to this generation. Much will be required of it.
