A word for this hour · Australia

Contend for the country
you’re building in.

Contend: to stand up for, fight for, advocate for, or actively work toward something you believe is worth protecting or building.

This is a call to the entrepreneurs of Australia — to those who build, employ, give and serve. The nation we love is under pressure. And we believe you were positioned here, for such a time as this, not to watch it happen.

Contend War Room

Weekly · 11am Brisbane time

Why now

The times are pressing in on this nation.

None of this is abstract. It is in the household budget, the lease, the tax assessment, the news — and in the businesses quietly closing around us.

The cost of living

Families and founders alike are feeling the squeeze. Every rise tests the households and businesses that hold this country together.

Housing

A generation is being priced out of the security earlier ones took for granted. Home ownership is drifting further out of reach.

Taxation

Rising burdens land on the people who build, employ and carry the economy — often with the least say in how it is spent.

Entrepreneurs are leaving

Talent and enterprise are looking offshore for breathing room. When builders leave, the nation loses more than revenue.

Businesses are closing

Foreclosures are rising. Hard-won enterprises — the ones that employ, give and serve — are being lost at an accelerating rate.

Extremism is rising

The attack at Bondi showed how quickly darkness can reach into ordinary Australian life. Indifference is no longer a safe position.

The call

We are not being called to leave Australia.
We are called to contend for it.

Why you

You are what this country needs.

You are an Illuminator — one of the brightest minds of this generation. You are gifted. You see what is broken and you cannot look away, because you were built to build what should exist next.

You have been entrusted with money, resources, influence and character. That entrustment is not an accident, and it is not only for your own household. It positions you to be one of the boldest and loudest voices right now — called for a time such as this.

The question is not whether you are qualified. The question is whether you will use what you have been given — to get informed, to raise your voice, and to take action.

What contending looks like in practice

Three things you can do this week.

01

Get informed

Most people want to act but do not know where to start. We share resources and what matters in the Contend WhatsApp group — so you understand what is happening and what is coming, before you speak.

02

Raise your voice

Use your platform — your business, your audience, your sphere of influence — to raise awareness. You do not need permission to speak with clarity and courage about what matters.

03

Take action

  • Join our prayer group.
  • Have your say when key policy comes through.
  • Write a letter to your local MP.
  • Add others — bring one more entrepreneur into the room.

Eight ways to contend every day.

Contending is not only a moment — it is a way of living. Eight postures for whatever sphere of influence God has entrusted to you.

PRAY.

Seek God before reacting.

KNOW.

Know Scripture. Know truth. Know what you're actually defending.

STAND.

Don't compromise simply because standing costs you something.

SPEAK.

Have courageous conversations. Tell the truth with love.

LIVE.

Let your own life demonstrate what you say you believe.

BUILD.

Don't only criticise what is broken. Build what should exist.

DISCIPLE.

Raise the next generation with conviction, courage and wisdom.

SERVE.

Take responsibility for the part of society God has entrusted to you.

The response

Join the Contend WhatsApp group.

A room for Australian entrepreneurs who are ready to contend — where we share what is happening, what is coming, and one practical next step at a time.

Faith-led

We build with God at the centre.

The Illuminator Movement is a faith-led movement. We believe every good thing — wealth, influence, talent, time — is entrusted, never self-made, and given to be stewarded well. Profit is a tool. Legacy is the assignment. You do not have to share our faith to belong here, but you should know what we are building on.

Much has been entrusted to this generation. Much will be required of it.
